Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, also called Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed by the label's first female artist for Dreamville Records by J. Cole. The label debuted her first EP titled Pho in October of 2016 when she began to gain recognition. Her first studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox has been uploading her music since 2012, with the debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. The year 2014 saw her continue to upload her music via the internet, including her self release single Bound. The track Sweat it is part of Omen's Elephant Eyes album, which was released on July 21 2015. In the following year, her music was circulating throughout the Dreamville group as J. Cole wanted her to work with him on some references for Rihanna. It was announced on the 8th of December that she was signed to Dreamville Records. Backseat is a track that she recorded alongside Cozz on her Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. The 21st of October, 2016, her debut EP was released, titled Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's track Change and also performed as the opening act for the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018, she was able to appear on two tracks with her label-mates EarthGang in Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. The debut album of Ari Lennox Shea Butter Baby was released on 16 July 2018. The debut single, Whipped Cream of the album dropped on September 5, 2018 with an accompanying music video. In November, she dropped her singles forty Shades of Choke & Grampa. Then, in November 2013, she released her debut album No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released on her debut single, the 26th of February, 2019, for the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby appeared with Cole on the Creed II sound track on November 16. The song, released with a video posted on YouTube 20 February 2019 has been viewed over 3 million times within the first seven days. In December 2018, she was part of The From East Atlanta With Love Tour featuring 6LACK.
