Kim Delaney is an American actor who is most well-known for her role as Detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she received the Emmy Award. Kim Delaney is known as the character Detective Diane Russell on ABC's NYPD Blue. She also appeared on the drama show All My Children Philly, CSI: Miami, and Army Wives. Delaney was the sole daughter of the United Auto Workers senior executive and domestic worker was raised with her four siblings. While she had a childhood goal of becoming journalist, it wasn't until her high school years when Delaney started modeling. After moving away from New York City and gaining experience as a commercial model at New York did she achieve her dream of becoming aspiring court reporters. In 1981, she starred as an innocent teenager in the film All My Children. Since then Delaney has been featured in many film and television dramas. Like her career however, her private life has not been easy or prosperous. The talented actress was afflicted with addiction issues in the past and has been through two marriages that failed. In 2005, she lost custody of the sole child she had.
